In Wake Of Suspicious Fire, Big Local Corn Maze Set To Open For Fall
The fire and a regional drought have pushed back Davis Farmland's corn maze opening date in 2022.

STERLING, MA — After a tough summer that included a drought and a suspicious fire, one of the nation's biggest corn mazes is set to open this weekend.
The Davis Farmland's corn maze was partially destroyed in a fire on June 21. Local police deemed the fire suspicious, but have not made any arrests. The fire destroyed corn, but also slides that were located near the maze.
Larry Davis, the farm's co-owner, told Spectrum1 in August that the investigation into the fire prevented access to a portion of the property while authorities looked for evidence. Farm employees worked "24/7" to get the maze open for the fall season, Davis said.

The corn maze's Saturday opening is a little later than usual — last fall, the corn maze opened on Sept. 18. It will be open in 2022 on Saturdays and Sunday, alongside other Davis Farmland attractions like apple picking, music, food and drinks.
The maze has been an attraction at the farm since its first mega-year in 1998. Today, the maze covers 8 acres and features about 3 miles of pathways, according to the farm.
