West Nile In Marlborough: Mosquito Tests Positive
Extra mosquito spraying was set to take place Wednesday evening, according to the Board of Health.
MARLBOROUGH, MA — A mosquito trapped in Marlborough tested positive for the West Nile virus (WNV), according to the Board of Health, prompting an extra round of local mosquito spraying.
Marlborough is the latest local community to return a positive WNV result following Worcester and Milford in recent weeks. Marlborough, however, remains a "low risk" area for contracting the virus, according to the state Department of Public Health.
The positive test in Marlborough was located in the northeast corner of the city off Concord Road near Sudbury, according to the health board. That's where spraying was set to occur on Wednesday evening, weather permitting.
