WHILE I LEARN

NOTE:  Some poems rhyme, some do not; some writings that rhyme may be like greeting cards but are not poems.
If a writing TELLS us that Jane is happy at seeing the wonders of nature, it is probably not a poem; if it SHOWS a Jane in a garden of delight, then it may be a poem.  If a person writes to teach or to preach, then s/he should write an essay, but not think that it is a poem.
Here is my poem for the day:

           WHILE I LEARN

At the end
of the day,
slanted sun
still warm
in the room,
she sat close
to his bed,
leaning in
to hear
what he was
about to say,
when words came,
almost as silent
as a sigh,
"Hold me
while I learn
how to die."
