Whitcomb Students In Marlborough Build Championship Robots

"This group of students continues to impress me with their ability to collaborate, communicate and compete with confidence."

From Marlborough Public Schools: When a group of students work together to problem solve, overcome challenges, and finally succeed to reach their goal, their self-esteem and confidence soars!

The Whitcomb Robotic Program is an example of this formula. On Saturday December 2, 2017, 22 middle school robotic teams from New England competed at Walsh Middle School in Framingham for a regional qualifying tournament of VEX “In the Zone”. Seven robotic teams from Whitcomb competed at the daylong event. The Whitcomb Panther Claws won the championship with two other alliance teams! Alliances from Sheffield MA and Mansfield, CT combined their skills with The Panther Claws and are now all qualified for the regional championship which occurs in February.

The advisors of the Whitcomb Middle School Vex Robotics’ Teams, Joanne Mahoney and Jeff Gay, guide Whitcomb middle school students to build workable robots. “I couldn’t be prouder of our teams,” stated Gay. “This group of students continues to impress me with their ability to collaborate, communicate and compete with confidence.”
