Worcester Man Found Near Assabet Trail Charged After Fighting Police

The 26-year-old was found Saturday evening passed out along the Assabet trail near Lincoln Street.

MARLBOROUGH, MA — A Worcester man is facing two assault and battery charges after he was found unconscious along the Assabet River Rail Trail.

Near 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Marlborough police were called to the Assabet trail near the intersection of Lincoln and Highland streets on a report of a man unconscious in the woods. Officers took the man for an exam at Marlborough Hospital, where police said he caused a disturbance.

After he was ready to be released from the hospital, Marlborough police took him into custody. During the arrest, the man hit and kicked two officers, police said.

The 26-year-old was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and battery on a police officer, according to Marlborough police.
