2 Gang Members With Huge Pile of Drugs Busted on Martha's Vineyard: Police

Aaron Watkins and Desmond Roderiques are affiliated with the Montes Park gang in New Bedford, police said.

Police said they arrested two gang members from New Bedford who loaded a car with $12,000 worth of drugs and took a ferry to Martha’s Vineyard.

Aaron Watkins, 27 (at left), and Desmond Roderiques, 24, were the target of a months-long investigation into the sale of heroin and cocaine on the island, police said.

Police said on Friday afternoon, they arrested the pair in a black 2014 Toyota Camry as they drove it off the Steamship Authority ferry in Vineyard Haven. The vehicle was loaded with 53 grams of cocaine, 23, grams of heroin, marijuana, cash, and drug paraphernalia, police said.

At the same time, police also raided a residence at 2 Hye Way in Edgartown, where they said the pair ran their drug operation. There, police said they found 80 grams of marijuana, mushrooms, methadone, a scale, and drug paraphernalia.

Watkins and Roderiques were charged with drug trafficking and conspiracy. They were held on $50,000 bail pending an arraignment Friday.

The investigation was conducted by the Martha’s Vineyard Drug Task Force.
