5 Rescued From Sinking Boat Off Martha's Vineyard

The Coast Guard said a boat with five people aboard started sinking off Martha's Vineyard Thursday.

MARTHA'S VINEYARD, MA — Five people were rescued off Martha's Vineyard Thursday after their boat started sinking, according to the Coast Guard. The rescue happened about a mile south of Squibnocket Point. A recreational boat started taking on water at about 3:30 p.m. and those aboard called for help at about 3:30 p.m.

Rescue crews pulled four people aboard a Coast Guard boat while the captain remained on board the stricken vessel. Rescue crews controlled the flooding while the captain continued on to Menemsha Harbor. No one was hurt, the Coast Guard said.
