A great house on the water with your own sandy beach which abuts a 150 acre nature reserve Enjoy swimming, boating, fishing, and hiking.
Many people dream about owning a house on the water somewhere. I'm not talking about anywhere, I'm talking about owning a home on the water on Martha's Vineyard. Now that's a dream and it's possible! Right now there is an incredibly charming and traditional home for sale, with its own private white sandy beach, located on Sengekontacket Pond. This property directly abuts over 150 acres of Sheriff's Meadow conservation land with hiking and biking trails.
The four bedroom/ three and a half bath house was completely renovated and expanded in 2004 - 2005 by its architect homeowner with great attention to detail throughout - custom paneling, moldings, cabinetry, wood floors, fixtures and systems. The home features an exceptional gourmet kitchen that includes a 80" French-made gas stove & oven ("Lacanche"), marble countertops, and walk-in pantry. For most chefs, either professional or amateur, this would be a divine kitchen to cook in.
There are beautiful perennial gardens, spacious lawns all with breathtaking water-views. Complementing the property is a three bay 1-1/2 story detached carriage house and a fully fenced yard. The 100 feet of stable shore line with its white sand beach and swim raft is ideal for swimming, water skiing, tubing, sailing, canoeing and kayaking. Easy power boat access to either side of State Beach, Nantucket Sound, Edgartown, and Oak Bluffs harbors, Cape Pogue and beyond.

Sometimes I don't always realize how lucky I am that I have lived on Martha's Vineyard for the past 26 years enjoying this pristine environment and all that it offers.Just by walking out my back door, I get to enjoy walks through the State Forest, but also I can hike through all the land that has been donated to the Sheriffs Meadow by generous people. The Caroline Tuthill Preserve is the 150 acres that abuts this Fowler Avenue home. It was donated between 1972 and 1983 being the largest single gift of land received by the Sheriff's Meadow Foundation in its history.
The public is invited to enjoy the Preserve by walking on the Garrett Family Trail. The trail follows a circuitous path throughout the forest, and includes expansive views of the salt march along Sengekontacket Pond. While walking the trail one might observe such birds as crows, blue jays, chickadees, towhees, pine warblers, white-breasted nuthatches, and red-eyed vireos. In spring, one may also be treated to the sight of lady slippers, which grow along the trail.

The Caroline Tuthill Preserve was formed by the Cape Cod lobe of the Late Wisconsin glacier, along with surrounding land that stretches from Edgartown harbor to the eastern shore of Lagoon Pond. The Preserve includes features such as high knobs and sunken kettleholes, features that are glacial in origin.
This house offers water-views, your own special white sand beach, plus a beautiful nature preserve near by to hike in and explore. It must be seen to be appreciated. 9 Fowler Ave, Edgartown
