Be the Change...

Why I choose health and how the changes I/we make can impact the world.

It's 5:30 a.m., my kids are still asleep and I have a moment to think and a moment to share.  You are on my mind.  Health coaching is on my mind.  I thought you might like to know why I do what I do.

As a health coach, it is my job to support people in their quest to feel good and be healthy.  I love my job.  I couldn't have a better job.  No really, it's the best.  How lucky am I to get to facilitate such an important transformation in people's lives.  It's positive.  It's hopeful.  It feels good.  It's a good challenge.  It's interesting. It's actually fun.

The biggest reasons I do what I do, however, are because it inspires me to improve and do better and because it becomes possible, by educating and helping one person find change, for real understanding and change to take place in the world.  The impact can be vast.  The impact needs to be vast in a society where obesity, diabetes, cancers, asthma, mental disorders and so on, are at alarming rates among adults and children alike.  Even the environment has taken a hit due to our lifestyle/food choices.  As Mahatma Gandhi once said, "Be the change you want to see in the world".  So I keep working on myself.  I keep educating myself and sharing what I know and making room for a deeper conversation.  I'm passionate, not only about my health and yours, but I'm passionate about the health of our entire planet.

Enjoy your day.  I am off to contemplate my raw food adventure for today...

Be inspired.  Eat well.  Live well.  Be happy.

p.s.  here is a great definition of Health Coaching from Wikipedia:  Health coaching is a method of guiding others to address their health and, if need be, make behavioral changes to improve health. Like traditional coaching, health coaches utilize goal setting, identification of obstacles, and use of personal support systems. The relationship between the coach and coachee is an accountability partnership focused on the overall health outcome goals as defined by healthcare practitioners and the patient/coachee.
