Day of Service

The AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps team and Vineyard Voyagers would like to invite any and all to participate in a Day of Service Saturday the 25th of May from 11a.m. to 2 p.m.

The AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team, Raven 2, and Vineyard Voyagers would like to invite any and all to participate in a Day of Service Saturday the 25th of May from 11a.m. to 2 p.m. NCCC’s Day of Service is an opportunity to bring people together under the umbrella of volunteer service that benefits the community.

The mission of the Vineyard Voyagers Maritime Studies Project is to give young people on Martha’s Vineyard the chance to have significant encounters with the sea – to build their knowledge and skills, and develop their confidence and character, through the shared adventure of a centuries-old seafaring tradition.

For this event, the NCCC team and staff from Vineyard Voyagers will be preparing the sailboat Mabel for many days of summer fun on the ocean. Mabel is to be pulled ashore with oxen at the Vineyard Haven Harbor, specifically the beach between the Black Dog Tavern and the Gannon and Benjamin Marine Railway, and much needed maintenance performed. Oiling the woodwork, painting, and installing the rigging are on the list of jobs to be done. All ages are welcome to attend.
