Is it time yet?

What's opening and when.

While I definitely feel the importance of supporting year-round businesses here on the Island, there's a special place in my heart for those who only bless us with their presence during "the season." Some places feel the squeeze more than others. By late October almost all of Menemsha (save the cafe and the Texaco) is closed up and bunkered down for the coming winter. And while places like Main Street in Edgartown can still draw a crowd, almost one in every three shopfronts are dark until the summer crowds begin to filter in once more.

Its become almost part of the spring experience. While we wait and watch in awe as new life springs from the litter of dead leaves from last fall, so too opens another type of wonderment: seasonal Island businesses. Backdoor Donuts opened their doors in time for the April tax deadline, so any last-minute stragglers headed to the post office or just long-time customers who have been craving a sweet treat could stop by and revel in their first day back to business.  Ben and Bill's, another one of my local haunts, as well as Murdick's Fudge shook the dust off and began cranking out their delightful sugary treats in time for the Easter crowd.

What's upcoming, you might ask?  This is what my research has shown  . . . You can look forward with me to the following local businesses opening in the coming weeks.  See you there!
