Jensen Named Newmac Player of the Week

Wheaton College junior Eric Jensen has been named NEWMAC Baseball Player of the Week. Jensen played last summer for the Martha's Vineyard Sharks and will do so again this upcoming season.

– Wheaton College junior Eric Jensen has been named New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Baseball Player of the Week. Jensen played last summer for the Martha’s Vineyard Sharks and will do so again this upcoming season.

Jensen batted .435 with 10 hits, eight RBI, and five runs scored as the Lyons (30-4, 16-2 NEWMAC) went 5-0 last week to extend their winning streak to nine. Jensen recorded at least one hit and one RBI in all five wins, highlighted by a 4-for-4, three RBI performances in a 10-3 win against Clark on Friday which secured the No. 1 seed for Wheaton in this weekend's conference tournament. He was also a perfect 4-for-4 in stolen base attempts and struck out once in 23 plate appearances.

Jensen, who moved into fifth place in program history in assists (377) this season. Freshman Apolinar De la Cruz (Providence, R.I./Classical) was named to the D3 baseball.com Team of the Week on March 20. De la Cruz will play for the Sharks this summer.
