Sharks Are Alive in the Playoff Hunt

Sharks must win two of three final games to advance to the playoffs.

Coming in to Sunday’s game the Sharks had to win 3 of 4 from the the Torrington Titans who are ahead of the Sharks for the last playoff spot. The Sharks took down the Titans in a dramatic come-from-behind victory as they were down 5-0 at one point. The final score 6 -5.

The game started out unfavorably for the Sharks as Corey Laliberty (Wheaton College) pitched 2.1 innings not giving up a hit but allowed 4 runs (3 earned). J.D Dickenson (Wheaton College) pitched 2.2 innings allowing only 1 run, Kyle Contino (Queens College) pitched 2 scoreless innings and Rob Rozzi (Massasoit Community College) and Ryan Morris (Presbyterian College) both pitched a scoreless inning as the Sharks held down the Titans the remainder of the game with Contino picking-up the win. Morris picked up his 9th save albeit with a scare as a blast hit the left field wall in the 9th inning for a single.

In the 7th inning the Sharks woke-up and completed their come-from-behind rally; at one point they were down 5-0 . Capitalizing on an error by the Titans shortstop the Sharks were able to score 3 runs with Eric Jensen (Wheaton College) scoring the final run on a single by Jeremy Matos (University of Central Florida). Neither team scored the remainder of the game.
