Once the Sharks got into the Dirt Dawgs bullpen the damage started. The Sharks trailed 2-1 after six innings with the only run scored up to that point by Brett Holmgren’s (Endicott) opposite field solo home run. The Sharks rallied to tie the game at 2-2 in the seventh when Nick Campero (UMASS) came on as a pinch hitter and went opposite field with a single to right field for an RBI . In the eighth, he added an RBI single to center to fuel a three-run inning and a 5-2 advantage.
Coach Mike Miller (Davis & Elkins College) making his inaugural head coaching debut stayed with his plan of using three pitchers with each going 3 innings as he eases his pitchers back into season form. Kyle Brenner (Brandeis) , returning from last year’s team, pitched 3 solid innings giving up one run and recording 3 strikeouts. Bob Carbaugh (Seton Hill) who started the game also had a strong outing giving up 1 solo home run in three innings. Jon Dunn (Le Moyne College) pitched the final 3 innings recording 3 strikeouts while giving up 2 earned runs. Coach Miller was happy as “we just threw strikes” as the pitching staff gave up only 2 walks during 9 innings.
Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan) had a big game going 3-5 with 1 RBI. Nick Sell (Seton Hill), Holmgren and Campero each collected 2 hits during the game. Holmgren and Campero each had 2 RBIs.

The Sharks played an errorless game while the Dirt Dawgs committed 2 errors. Today’s game in Nashua has been cancelled due to rain and the Sharks have a rare Saturday off. Their next scheduled game is an away game on Sunday against the Seacoast Mavericks. Watch for their home opener on June 11 at 6PM against the Brockton Rox.
Kevin Keaney and his group of carpenters are putting the finishing touch on the stadium seats while Rob Young finishes up the electrical work to be ready for our first night game Saturday June 15th. Danny Rogers has been working with Rob trenching the area surrounding the field. Next is Mark Crossland and sons (Crossland Landscape) finishing the landscaping of the area; an almost impossible task so close to opening day Tuesday June 11th. We can’t thank all of these people enough for their hard work getting the field ready.
