Two Sharks in Top 500 MLB Prospects

The Martha's Vineyard Sharks are proud to announce their first two top 500 Major League Baseball prospects who played for the Sharks during the inaugural 2011 season.

The Martha’s Vineyard Sharks are proud to announce their first two top 500 Major League Baseball prospects that played for the Sharks during the inaugural 2011 season. Prior to the start of the 2011 season, the Sharks also had two players drafted off the original roster by the St. Louis Cardinals and the Atlanta Braves, but never made it to the Vineyard.  Baseball America has listed 2011 Sharks & the Futures Collegiate Baseball League MVP and All-Star, Robbie Zinsmeister, along with Sharks & Futures Collegiate Baseball League All-Star, Jeramy Matos, in the top 500 prospects for the 2012 Major League Baseball draft that takes place in June.  Zinsmeister is a shortstop/outfielder from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Zinsmeister led the Sharks offensive attack in 2011, hitting a robust .326, including 9 home runs and 26 RBI’s. Matos, a corner outfielder from Central Florida University, was the summer collegiate home run king blasting 13 home runs, which was the most in any wood bat baseball league and drove in 34 RBI’s, despite have two quad muscle pulls throughout the season.

The Sharks are a summer, wood-bat, collegiate baseball team, operated by Carminucci Sports Group, who own and operate the Brockton Rox (Can-Am League). The Sharks play in the Futures Collegiate Baseball League Of New England. The Sharks strive to provide its fans, sponsors, and partners with the very best in competitive baseball and affordable entertainment in a family-friendly atmosphere. The team is comprised of amateur, college baseball players from across New England, and country showcasing their talents in front of Major League Scouts.
