Cape Cod Beach One of 10 Best in U.S.

Coast Guard Beach in Eastham is one of the 10 best in the country, according to a new survey.

The beach was ranked No. 6 on the 2015 “America’s Best Beaches” report by Stephen Leatherman, aka “Dr. Beach.” He has released his annual survey for the last 25 years.

Rankings are based on such factors as beach size, sand softness, water temperature, amount of rain, underwater beach close, rip currents, and safety records.

Waimanalo Bay Beach Park in Hawaii was ranked No. 1 this year.

Coast Guard Beach has an important place in American history—the Mayflower made landfall there in Nov., 1620. The beach includes bicycle trails. Seals, plovers, and terns frequent the area.
