Edgartown Restaurants Welcome Patrons

More seasonal businesses are opening their doors on the Vineyard: Detente, the well-regarded restaurant and bar  at 15 Winter St. in Edgartown's Nevin Square, begins serving dinners nightly at 5:30 p.m. today.

A status update on the restaurant's Facebook page reads, "We're so excited to share our new menu, cocktail list, and (after many years absence) the new bar menu!"

Also in Edgartown, tonight Eleven North invites customers to a "meet and greet" with recently-hired chef John Welch (in photo) from 5 to 8 p.m.

A sign posted in the window of the restaurant at 11 North Water St. reads, 

"Please come and check us out

Have a cocktail and enjoy free appetizers

Meet our staff and new chef John Welch

New menu and grand opening on the horizon

Please come share in our excitement"

Some of the dishes Welch has been creating for the new menu, according to the Eleven North Facebook page:

"BBQ Braised Veal, Smoked Gouda Mash, Charred Brussels Sprouts and Tabasco Fried Onions

Pan Roasted Diver Scallops Oyster 2 Ways with Applewood Bacon, Fingerling Potato and Sweet Corn Stew"

Detente's Facebook page promises:

"Chocolate braised lamb shoulder with English peas, ricotta gnudi, and mint

Lobster Risotto with black trumpet mushroom emulsion, local sea beans, and black truffle"
