Katie Hutchison, a new member of the Martha’s Vineyard Art Association, will be exhibiting her archival pigment-ink photographs on photo rag paper at the Old Sculpin July 9-15. Katie owns Katie Hutchison Studio (KHS), a multi-disciplinary enterprise, serving the North Shore of Boston, Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard.
Katie has been honing her photography skills since taking her first black-and-white film photography class in 1991 as an architecture student at the Rhode Island School of Design. Six years ago she began to concentrate on digital color photography. Today, she uses a digital SLR camera to capture and reframe authentic places, things, and moments in order to see them anew. Katie’s attracted to light and shadow cast on colorful details and patterns within our everyday New England environments. Her photographs celebrate the grace of the ordinary.
