Free Bird Market: Not Just a Consignment Store

New store offers a bohemian chic selection of clothes that includes some consignments, high fashion names, some discounts and Island designers

"It's a mixture of consignments and vintage. We do have new things mixed in and we have island designers," said Free Bird Market owner Ashley Gilbert

Located in the center of Vineyard Haven behind Tisberry, Free Bird Market has been in business for three months.

With a variety of clothing and accessories, prices range from $5 for a necklace to $320 for a Prada dress.

"For the brands we have it's a lower price point and everything is at least 50% off of retail price," explained Gilbert.

The price of the clothing is not what Gilbert looks for when selecting items. "I just try to stick with more of a bohemian kind of look," she said.

The name "Free Bird" was inspired by the Lynyrd Skynyrd song. "But I went with 'Market' because it's kind of like an outdoor European marketplace where you can find different things."
