Girl Drummer from Martha's Vineyard Needs Your Votes
Maddie Scott, 16, of West Tisbury is close to finishing in the top 10 for her age group in the national "Hit Like a Girl" drumming contest. Voting ends Sunday, March 31.
Maddie Scott is on a roll.
When we checked in with the West Tisbury 16-year-old almost a month ago, just a few hundred people had viewed the homemade YouTube video of her performing "Gangnam Style" on drums.
This morning, that video has had more than 2,700 views and Scott had received nearly 1,500 votes in a national contest for female drummers.

Drumming is more than a hobby for Scott: She wants to earn a degree from the prestigious Berklee College of Music, where she attended a summer program last year, and make music her career.
"Rock is my favorite thing to do, but if I can get a job doing anything in music I’ll be happy," she said.
