Great White Shark Returns to Cape Cod After Dramatic Rescue

A great white shark that was rescued in Chatham last year is alive and well: it recently returned to Cape Cod.

Chatham, MA — Jamison is back.

The great white shark beached itself in Chatham last year; it was pulled back into the ocean by a shark expert and the town's harbormaster.

The shark was tagged during the rescue and later nicknamed "Jamison." The Atlantic White Shark Conservancy said the shark was detected about two weeks ago on June 29 in good health. Last year's rescue was July 13.

So far this year, there have been several great white sightings on Cape Cod.

Over this weekend, a 6-year-old boy out fishing actually hooked a great white shark in Cape Cod Bay; the shark was cut free. Three more great whites were spotted on the eastern edge of the Cape.
