Hurricane Irma: Cape Cod Police Collecting Relief Supplies

Cape Cod police departments are collecting relief supplies for those affected by Hurricane Irma in Florida through October 6.

BARNSTABLE, MA — Cape Cod police department have partnered with Florida law enforcement officials to collect relief supplies for those affected by Hurricane Irma. Items needed included cases of water, toothpaste, pet food and mosquito repellant, among others. The Barnstable County Sheriff's Office and nine police departments will collect supplies through October 6; residents can drop off goods at local police stations.

"There are thousands of people in Florida who lost everything from the devastating impact of Hurricane Irma," Barnstable County Sheriff James Cummings. "The items on the recommended list will bring comfort and safety to some of our most vulnerable citizens." Cummings continued, “Cape Codders are generous and caring people. On behalf the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office and our brother and sister Sheriffs of Florida, thank you to everyone who is able to donate items or money to this most worthy cause.”
