Impaled Lobsterman Medevaced Off Cape Cod: Video
Coast Guard crews medevaced a lobsterman who was impaled on a boat over 100 miles from land. Watch dramatic video of the rescue.
A Coast Guard helicopter crew on Tuesday rescued a lobsterman who was impaled aboard a boat over 100 miles out to sea from Cape Cape. The 41-year-old lobsterman was aboard the boat "Eagle" 135 miles to the east of Cape Cod when he was accidentally impaled, according to Coast Guard officials.
A Jayhawk helicopter was dispatched to the scene and airlifted the lobsterman aboard. He was flown to Cape Cod Hospital for treatment and expected to survive.
The Coast Guard said a crew member called for help around 10:15 a.m. and the helicopter made it to the boat around 1:30 p.m.
