Jazz Fest 2012 Performer Profile: Terri Lyne Carrington
Grammy Award Winning Terri Lyne Carrington will be performing at the Tabernacle on August 4th.

Terri Lyne Carrington is one of the featured artists at the . Carrington is a drummer, composer and producer who toured for 20 years with famous names like Herbie Hancock, Clark Terry, and Dianne Reeves. She worked as the house drummer for the Arsenio Hall Show in the 80s and the drummer for VIBE, hosted by Sinbad, in the 90s.
She has put out four solo recordings, produced 13, and has been featured on several dozen albums. In July 2011, Carington released her Grammy winning album, "The Mosaic Project" (Best Jazz Vocal Album). She produced the 14-song set which features some of the most prominent female jazz artists of the last few decades including Esperanza Spalding, Dianne Reeves, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Sheila E., Nona Hendryx, Cassandra Wilson, Geri Allen and several others. In addition to the Grammy, Carington has received several awards including a Berklee College of Music Honorary Doctorate, a Martin Luther King Jr. Award and an NAACP award to name a few.
Carrington will be performing alongside other great contemporary jazz artists like Elan Trotman, Drew Davidsen, Gerald Veasley and Fredrik Yonett at the Martha’s Vineyard Jazz Festival’s Cool Jazz Saturday at the Tabernacle Pavillion in Oak Bluffs.
