Martha's Vineyard Teen Voted Finalist in Female-Drummer Contest
Your votes helped propel West Tisbury's Maddie Scott, 16, to the top 10 under-18 finalists in the international Hit Like a Girl drumming competition sponsored by DRUM! magazine. Winners will be announced April 18.
Congratulations are in order for 16-year-old Maddie Scott of West Tisbury, whose spirited drum performance of the K-pop hit "Gangnam Style" earned more than 1,800 votes in the online, international Hit Like a Girl drumming contest sponsored by DRUM! magazine.
We'll never know how many of those votes came from Martha's Vineyard Patch readers, but you don't have to be a Vineyarder to see — and hear — that Scott's got real chops on those traps.
As a top-10 finalist in the under-18 division, Scott joins a diverse group of peers as young as 8 who are vying for recognition and prizes that range from the grand prize of a brand-new drum kit with sticks, cases and a $500 gift certificate to the third-place winner's $500 electronic drum kit.
