Missing Martha's Vineyard 3-Year-Old Found Safe

The girl wandered out of the house in Oak Bluffs Sunday, police said.

A missing Oak Bluffs girl was found safe by a K-9 unit over the weekend.

On Sunday, parents at a Bayes Hill Road residence woke up at about 6 a.m. to find their 3-year-old daughter wasn’t in her bedroom. The girl apparently walked out of the house through the unlocked front door and wandered off the property.

Police launched a search and called in Edgartown police Officer Jeffrey Trudel and his K-9, “Buster.” They located the girl in an overgrown path; she was curled in a fetal position and shivering from heavy rain.

She told Trudel that she “couldn’t find mommy.” She was hospitalized as a precaution and expected to be OK.
