Nantucket Firefighters Rescue Dogs From Frozen Pond

Nantucket firefighters used surfboards to reach two dogs that fell through the ice at Hummock Pond.

NANTUCKET, MA — Nantucket firefighters used surfboards to rescue two dogs from a frozen Hummock Pond Tuesday. The dogs, named Zhira and Shuja, fell through the ice. Firefighters in exposure suits used ropes and surfboards to reach the animals, which were not injured after the ordeal.

"This could have turned out ruff but it ended in 100 (percent) pawsitivity," the Nantucket Fire Department said in a statement.
