President's Awards, Citizenship Honors at the High School
Dozens of Martha's Vineyard Regional High School students have been recognized by the President's Education Awards Program.

Dozens of Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School students were recognized by the President’s Education Awards Program at the high school’s honor night, held June 2. The program, sponsored by the US Department of Education, honors those students who have achieved high academic goals and demonstrated a dedication to learning.
The President’s Education Awards Program consists of two honors, the President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence and the President’s Award for Outstanding Academic Achievement. The Academic Excellence award is bestowed upon students who, among other qualifications, achieve the equivalent of a 3.5 grade point average. The award for Academic Achievement recognizes students that show outstanding educational growth, improvement or intellectual development in academic subjects.
In additional to the President’s Education Awards Program, several Martha’s Vineyard High School students were also honored with the American Citizenship Award.

“Too often, disruptive students command attention while the students who follow the rules and conduct themselves appropriately go unnoted. The American Citizenship Award is designed to recognize the students that consistently exhibit the kinds of behaviors we want to see displayed in our schools and in our communities,” according to the National Association of Secondary School Principals. “The American Citizenship Award can be thought of as recognition by the principal that "I caught you doing something GOOD!"
The 2010-2011 Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School honorees are noted below.
