Island merchants are reaching out on social media to spread the word that they're still open for business, offering special deals to bring in post-season and year-round customers.

Among the specials we've spotted on Facebook lately:

• Bring your local driver's license to Nancy's in Oak Bluffs for a 20 percent Islanders' discount
• Lobsterville Bar & Grille has two-for-one burgers Wednesday night 
• Ben & Bill's Chocolate Emporium has scheduled its annual half-off sale for Oct. 14
• Tisberry is giving students a 15 percent discount after school

Anglers registered for the Martha's Vineyard Striped Bass & Bluefish Derby are eligible for a whole string of discounts and special offers, listed at the mvderby.com website.
