After a night of offensive woes, the Martha's Vineyard Sharks exploded for 10 runs against the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs to win by a final score of 10-1. Sharks starter Bob Carbaugh (Seton Hill) got the win on the night, while Dirt Dawgs starter Joey Gaouette (William and Mary) took the loss. Both pitchers cruised through the first 3 innings, but the Sharks were able to get on the board in the top of the 4th. Eric Brenk (Wofford) drove in Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan) with a two-out single. Brenk continued to be the RBI-produced by driving in Dylan Tice (IUP) on a fielders' choice in the 6th. This two run lead was all that Carbaugh would need to shut down the Dawgs.
In the 8th inning, the Sharks' bats exploded for 6 more runs. Wachusett was able to squeak across a run in the bottom of the 8th but the Sharks held on and won the game 10-1. Bob Carbaugh picked up his league-leading 6th win of the year, while Ryan Siegel continues to lead the league in batting average at .402. The Sharks return to action Tuesday (7/16) against the North Shore Navigators. First pitch is scheduled for 6:45 pm.
