SHARKS LOSE BUT REMAIN IN FIRST

The Martha's Vineyard Sharks were not able to beat the Brockton Rox, but the Sharks were able to retain first place for the futures league playoffs beginning Sunday (8/11). Before the start of the game both teams' positions were solidified in the playoffs, so both played much of their roster.

Michael Bartolotti (Babson) got the win, while Andy Sadoski (Bridgewater St) took the loss for the Sharks. The Sharks got 2 early runs in the 1st off a Nik Campero (Umass) 2-run RBI single. Both teams were able to get 4 runs apiece in the 2nd and the Sharks were leading 6-4 after 3 innings. The Sharks were not able to score any more runs until the 9th, but the Rox tied it up in the 4th and went ahead for good in the 8th.

In the 8th, an error by the Sharks pitcher allowed the go-ahead run to score for the Rox. Apolinar de la Cruz (Wheaton) and Tyler Graves (Jones Count JC) also pitched in RBIs for Brockton and they went into the 9th leading 10-6. In the bottom of the 9th, the Sharks mounted a comeback but a Davidson Peguero (Fisher) groundout ended the game with the Sharks down 10-9.
