The Martha's Vineyard Sharks exploded for 18 runs and 28 hits on route to their most wins ever by a Sharks team (27). Both runs and hits were the most in a single-game by the FCBL team. The Sharks team batting average is now .289.
Matt Timoney (Harvard) took on the Suns' Harrison Paige (AIC). Timoney pitched 7 innings, gave up 1 run with 5 strikeouts, and took the win on the night. Paige was roughed up on the night, giving up 10 runs through just 2.2 innings. The Sharks got 3 early runs in the 2nd, but exploded in the 3rd with 9 runs. The inning was highlighted by another Dylan Tice (IUP) grand-slam, who now leads the Sharks in HRs with 5. This is Tice's third straight game with a homer as his hitting-streak continues. He is batting .345 and is leading the team in RBIs with 27. He is a strong candidate for the FCBL's MVP. First baseman Brett Holmgren (Endicott), who is batting .310, also drove in 2 runs in an inning were the Sharks put the game out of reach. Holmgren had a huge day going 5-6. In the 7th, Nik Campero (UMASS) continued his hot-hitting since returning from injury batting going 3-6 and is batting  .308. His 2 RBIs (4 for the game) put the Sharks ahead 18-1. Donnie Cimino (Wesleyan) and Chris Miller (Seton Hill) each went 3-6.
The Suns scored a run apiece in the 8th and 9th, but were not able to mount a rally against the Sharks. With the win, the Sharks move a 1/2 game ahead of the Silver Knights (lost both ends of a doubleheader) Â for first-place in the league. The 27 wins is the most by a Sharks team and they look to continue the winning today against Wachusett at 6:45 pm.
