Shotgun Deer Season Underway On Martha's Vineyard
Deer season runs through Dec. 14 with hikers on trails and wooded areas urged to use caution and consider wearing hunter's orange.
MARTHA'S VINEYARD — Shotgun deer hunting season is underway on Martha's Vineyard. The season began on Monday and continues through Dec. 14.
Hunting hours are from a half hour before sunrise until a half hour after sunset. Hunting is prohibited on Sundays. Hunters must be 500 feet from a residents, 150 feet from a roadway and must wear at least 500 square inches of "hunter orange" on the chest, back and head.
Hikers are urged to use caution in wooded areas or trails during hunting season and "consider wearing orange."
