A great pitching performance from Seacoast starter Tim Holmes (San Jacinto) cooled off the hot hitting of the Sharks. Starter John Cook (Amherst) took the loss for the Sharks on the night, allowing only 1 run through 7 innings. The Mavericks took the lead in the 3rd inning off a Buck McCarthy (Stetson) RBI double that scored TJ Lynch (URI) from second. The Sharks threatened in the bottom of the 4th by getting a runner to third, but a Ryan Uhl (IUP) groundout ended the inning.Â
Holmes was able to cruise through 7.2 innings, before being pulled for the 100 pitch rule. The Sharks weren't able to muster anything against reliever Alex Godzak (Canisius) and Seacoast pushed across an insurance run in the top of the 9th. With the loss, the Sharks move into a tie for first place with Nashua. Sharks return to action Monday (7/15) at the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 pm.Â
