Martha's Vineyard hockey battles hard, but looses in a shoot-out to Lynnfield.

The Vineyarders fought long and hard for the 14th annual Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr. Invitational Tournament trophy this weekend, but ultimately fell to Lynnfield High School in a first game shoot-out. At the end of regulation play on Friday, the two teams were tied at three points each, with junior Tyler Araujo scoring two goals and sophomore Shay Hill scoring one for the Vineyarders. The game then extended into overtime, and finally a shoot-out. Shay scored the Vineyarders' only shoot-out goal, to Lynnfield's two.

Lynnfield advanced to the championship game Saturday afternoon, where it fell 1-4 to the winning Masconomet Regional High School.

The Farleigh S. Dickinson tournament brings together four teams to battle each year on ice. The Vineyarders boys varsity team will play their last game of the season at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 25, when they take on Whitman-Hanson Regional High School, who are seeking a seed in the state tournament.
