A Simple Drop, A Big Impact—Thanks to the Medfield Lions!
In Medfield, we often talk about the importance of ensuring that every student feels a sense of belonging and has access to the full educational experience we offer. Sometimes, those values are best expressed not in words, but in action. The Medfield Lions’ recent Golf Ball Drop, supported by the Medfield Fire Department, is one of those moments.
For the past two years, this creative event has raised funds for the Blake Middle School Scholarship Fund, helping to ensure that all of our 8th grade students can participate in the class trip to New York and Washington, D.C. It’s a trip that offers far more than travel- it builds independence, deepens learning, and creates lasting memories at a pivotal moment in a student’s life.
Over the past several years, we have seen a steady increase in the need for financial assistance among our families. As costs rise, so too does the importance of community support. The Medfield Lions have stepped to meet that need. Their commitment has made a meaningful difference for many students. Last year, the Medfield American Legion Post 119 also helped out significantly by donating $12,000 for student scholarships.
This is what makes Medfield special. When there is a need, people respond. When students require support, our community finds a way. And when organizations like the Lions and our Fire Department partner together, the impact is amplified. At a time when it is easy to focus only on our challenges, this event is a powerful reminder of who we are and what we can accomplish together for our kids.
On behalf of our students and Blake Middle School Principal, Nat Vaughn, I extend my sincere gratitude to the Medfield Lions and the Medfield Fire Department for the Golf Ball Drop event. Your work ensures that opportunity is not limited by circumstance or resources, and that every student has the chance to be part of something meaningful.
It is not just generosity. It is Medfield at its best.
Sincerely,
Jeffrey J. Marsden - Superintendent, Medfield Public Schools
