MEDFORD, MA — A citywide event is returning this weekend, bringing yard sales and lemonade stands to neighborhoods throughout Medford.
The Citywide Yard Sale and Lemonade Stands event is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 4, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at locations across the city.
Residents throughout Medford will host individual yard sales and lemonade stands, allowing community members to travel around the city to shop, explore and grab a cup of lemonade along the way. A map of registered yard sales and lemonade stands is available online, allowing attendees to plan their route ahead of Sunday.
The event has been held in Medford in previous years, with the lemonade stand portion tracing its origins to an idea from a local child. According to the mayor's office, a child named Owen came up with the idea for a citywide lemonade stand day after making money selling lemonade with friends. The idea was later brought to Mayor Breanna Lungo-Koehn's attention by City Councilor George Scarpelli Callahan.
Medford eventually combined the lemonade stands with its citywide yard sale, and the event has since continued as a fall tradition. The city held the event in 2024 despite poor weather and brought it back again in September 2025, when yard sales and lemonade stands were scheduled across two days. A map of participating locations was also made available that year.
Lungo-Koehn said this year's event provides an opportunity for neighbors to get outside, connect with one another and discover something new while traveling between participating locations.
The event will cap off a busy fall weekend in Medford. The Medford Craft Fair and Oktoberfest are both scheduled to take place Saturday before the citywide yard sales and lemonade stands begin.
