MEDFORD, MA — Two men have pleaded guilty in federal court for their roles in an interstate robbery conspiracy with ties to Medford, according to the United States Attorney's Office District of New Hampshire.
Nasaiah Johnson, 25, recently of Baltimore, and Xiao Yu, 28, recently living in New Jersey, pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery. According to court documents and statements made in court, the men traveled from New York to New England with four co-conspirators to rob a business. Yu rented a box truck from a Medford rental agency and also purchased supplies from a hardware store in the city before the group traveled to Londonderry, New Hampshire.
Five people, including Johnson, entered the business, where they reportedly threatened an employee with what appeared to be a firearm and restrained the employee. The men then stole merchandise and goods and loaded the items into the box truck. Yu drove away in the truck, while the other co-conspirators fled in a sedan and returned to New York.
The FBI led the investigation with assistance from Londonderry Police, New Hampshire State Police, Massachusetts State Police, and the New York Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Vicinanzo is prosecuting the case.
The charge provides for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison followed by up to three years of supervised release and a fine of up to $250,000. U.S. District Court Judge Steven McAuliffe scheduled Johnson's sentencing for Feb. 16, 2027, and Yu's sentencing for one week later.
