MELROSE, MA — The police department is working to locate an elderly woman who went missing Thursday afternoon.
Resident Gayle Wetmore was last seen on Thursday, Oct. 2, after leaving her home in the area of Derby Road for her normal 15-minute walk and not returning. The 77-year-old, who has dementia, is approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall and was last seen wearing leopard-print boots, black pants, and a blue and white shirt.
According to police, there was a heavy police presence in the vicinity of Derby Road as authorities continued their search for the woman. Multiple K-9 teams and a drone are being utilized as part of the search.
Community members who see Wetmore or have relevant information about her whereabouts are being asked to call 911.
