MELROSE, MA — An elderly woman who went missing Thursday afternoon has been located, according to the Melrose Police Department.
Resident Gayle Wetmore was reported missing on Thursday, Oct. 2, after leaving her home in the area of Derby Road for her normal 15-minute walk and not returning. The 77-year-old, who has dementia, is approximately 5 feet, 4 inches tall and was last seen wearing leopard-print boots, black pants, and a blue and white shirt.
According to police, there was a heavy police presence in the vicinity of Derby Road as authorities searched for Wetmore. Multiple K-9 teams and a drone were utilized as part of the search.
Police later announced that Wetmore had been located. Additional details regarding where she was found were not immediately released.
