10 Dates You Need to Know on the Milford School Calendar

MILFORD, MA — The 2016-2017 school year is almost here, and while students may be dreading it, the time has come to make preparations for the upcoming school year.

Students are due back in Milford schools on Wednesday, Aug. 31, for grades 1-12. Pre-K starts on Sept. 6 and Kindergarten starts on Sept. 7. The return is immediately followed by another break, with no school Friday, Sept. 2, or Monday, Sept. 5 (Labor Day).Here are ten other important dates on the Milford public schools calendar that you should be aware of during the first few months of the year.

1. Sept. 1: preschool open house
2. Sept. 7: kindergarten orientation
3. Oct. 3: no school, Rosh Hashanah
4. Oct. 10: no school, Columbus Day
5. Oct. 12: no school, Yom Kippur
6. Nov. 11: no school, Veterans' Day
7. Nov. 23: no school, school offices close at noon
8. Nov. 23-25: no school, Thanksgiving break
9. Dec. 9: early release day
10. Dec. 26-30: holiday break
