A driver was trapped inside a truck after hitting a utility pole after the Tuesday afternoon crash.
MILFORD, MA — Two people were taken to local hospitals Tuesday afternoon after a pickup truck driver crashed into a utility pole along Purchase Street near the Milford-Hopkinton line.
The crash happened near 3 p.m., and the force of the truck snapped the utility pole, sending power lines down into the street and across the truck's hood. The passenger in the truck jumped out of a window, but the driver remained stuck inside.

Milford Fire Department Deputy Chief Michael DeTore said the driver had to remain in the truck until the electricity could be shut off. A second truck came to a stop near where the utility pole fell, and the driver had to stay put until the power was off. That person was not hurt, DeTore said.
The passenger in the pickup truck was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center as a precaution. The driver was taken to UMass Memorial in Worcester, but his condition was unclear as of Wednesday morning.
