3rd Person Dies Of EEE In Massachusetts
The EEE threat from mosquito bites is highest in Plymouth and Bristol counties.
A third person has died from Eastern equine encephalitis or EEE virus in Massachusetts this year. The victim is among the 10 EEE cases that have already been diagnosed this year, according to CBS Boston. The Department of Public Health has not yet released what county the victim lives in.
A Bristol County man in his 70s died last week from the virus and a Fairhaven woman also died from the virus. There have been ten confirmed human cases of the virus in the state this year, including a 5-year-old Sudbury girl who nearly died, before showing signs of improvement.
The Department of Public Health confirmed a second human case of West Nile virus, a man in his 50s from Plymouth County.
