Because of a $7,500 grant Alternatives recently received from the Real Friends Project, individuals we serve in the Blackstone Valley will soon have the opportunity to meet new friends and explore their communities.
The Project, a partnership between The Arc of Massachusetts and the Mass. Dept. of Developmental Services, funds creative approaches that support the development of relationships between people with and without disabilities.
We will use the grant to test whether a club similar to our Club 21 model will be as successful in expanding the social networks of individuals with developmental disabilities, as it has proven to be for people with psychiatric disabilities.
