I’m Stefanie, writing as S.M. Norton, and when I’m not working at my full-time architecture job or caring for my son, I write!
My wife and I moved here from Clinton, MA about a year ago and Milford has been incredibly welcoming to us as members of the LGBTQ+ community. We’ve loved Blooming Hearts Roastery and Cafe, as well as walking the trails and experiencing everything Milford has to offer.
I published my debut novel, Crimson Shadows, a lesbian western romance, in January 2025 and I’m currently working with a director, producer and lead actress with the goal of adapting it into a feature film.
On March 13, 2026, a day after my wife gave birth to our son, my sapphic fantasy was released. The first in a series, Descendant was so much fun to write and focuses on themes of resilience, identity, and the complexities of mental health. I hoped to write a story that resonates beyond traditional fantasy. The novel explores the weight of expectation and the courage it takes to face both internal and external battles, while still telling a deeply human story.
As someone who came out during the pandemic in my mid-thirties, reconciling with my own identity was very important to me and I like to show that in my writing. So far, signed copies of the novel are available in an indie bookstore in Alabama. It also can be found on Amazon as an ebook and be read for free if you are a Kindle Unlimited member. It’s also available in paperback through most online retailers.
If you’d like a personalized copy, I’m always happy to sign one.
I’m grateful to be part of a community like Milford and excited to continue sharing my stories here. Writing these novels has been an important part of my own journey, and I hope they resonate with others who are finding their voice too.
