MILFORD, MA — A 24-year-old Florida man is facing charges after Milford police said he brandished what was later identified as a BB gun during a dispute with a juvenile outside a Main Street 7-Eleven.
Milford police said officials received a 911 call from a juvenile reporting that a man in a gray or blue SUV had displayed a firearm in front of the 7-Eleven at 127 Main St at around 2:28 p.m. Thursday.
Police said the suspect left before officers arrived and an initial search of the area did not find the vehicle or driver.
About five minutes later, at roughly 2:33 p.m., police said the suspect vehicle was identified through Flock technology, which led investigators to identify the suspect as Nicholas Ybarra Perez, 24, of Miramar, Florida.
During a field interview, Ybarra Perez told officers the weapon he had displayed was a BB gun and showed them where it was stored in the vehicle, according to police.
“Thanks to the rapid response of our officers and the investigative technology available to the Milford Police Department, we were able to quickly identify the suspect and recover the weapon involved,” Milford Police Chief Robert Tusino said.
Ybarra Perez was released on $200 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned in Milford District Court.
