2 Dead After Bellingham House Fire

BELLINGHAM, MA — Two Bellingham residents died after a two-alarm fire tore through a Temi Road home early Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to 15 Temi Road at about 12:40 a.m. Sunday for a report of a house fire, according to Bellingham Fire Chief William R. Miller. Crews rescued two older adults from the home, but both were later pronounced dead at the hospital, officials said.

The victims' names were not released, but officials said they were sisters, according to a report from WCVB.

“On behalf of the Bellingham Fire Department, I want to express our heartfelt condolences to the family that lost two loved ones today,” Chief Miller said. “This is a sad day for them and our community.”

Chief Miller was first on scene and saw heavy fire coming through the roof, officials said. Firefighters entered the home to attack the fire and search for occupants.

No other injuries were reported. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause and manner of death.

The fire spread rapidly through the home and caused serious damage, but firefighters were able to protect nearby homes, officials said.

The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation by the Bellingham Fire Department, Bellingham Police Department, State Police fire investigators assigned to the State Fire Marshal’s Office and State Police assigned to the district attorney’s office.

Fire departments from Franklin, Hopkinton, Hopedale, Milford, Westborough, Medway, Mendon and Norfolk provided mutual aid at the scene. The Department of Fire Services and Providence Canteen also provided rehab services for firefighters.
