Milford Police K-9 Titan Helps Locate Person In Distress

MILFORD, MA — A police K-9 in Milford helped locate a person in distress last week.

Milford police said K-9 Titan helped find a person who may have been experiencing a mental health crisis on Thursday evening after they fled into a wooded area near Upper Purchase Street. Officers, firefighters and EMS personnel responded, and a Milford Police Department drone was deployed to help with the search.

At around 6 p.m., K-9 Titan began alerting toward a nearby power line corridor, police said. Titan located the person unharmed about 10 minutes later.

The individual was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center for evaluation.

Titan is partnered with Milford police K-9 Officer Brian Sanchioni. The team was recognized for their courageous actions during a life-saving incident last year.

The pair responded to reports of a missing 8-year-old boy on April 28 and was able to rescue the child after finding him clinging to a small tree in a body of water, police said. The two were honored on the big screen at Gillette Stadium before a Patriots game in October.
