The Milford Scarlet Hawks closed out their regular season yesterday with a win over visiting Braintree. This last game is also Senior Day and the Milford Seniors did not disappoint. After a lot of pre-game activity which included: posters made by the team for each , number tributes in the left field fence, lots of pictures and some tears the team got down to business. All five Milford Seniors: Kayla Barys, Leah Murray, Giovanna Arcudi, Sarah Jacques and Sam Bonvino contributed with support, leadership and encouragement for their teammates and contributing both offensively and defensively. Milford scored early and often but and was able to edge Braintree 10-9. Barys pitched 6 1/3 very good innings. Her defense did their jobs with Bonvino and Murray making some spectacular plays in the field. Kayla had not taken the mound since her sophomore year and showed little rust chalking up 3 strikeouts with only 2 walks while scattering 11 hits. Jenny Levine came in to close it out in the 7th striking out the fnnal 2 batters. The Scarlet Hawks banged out 16 hits with Syndey Pounds leading the way going 4-5 and crossing the plate 4 times. Other hitters for Milford: Bonvino (2-3, 2 rbi), Taylor LeBrun (2-4, 2 rbi), Allie Piergustavo (single, rbi), Megan Jacques (2-4, 2 rbi), Jill Powers (single, rbi), Barys (2-2, 2 walks), Arcudi (2-4).
