'Big Mama,' Two Others Charged in Milford Drug Bust

A woman who went by the name “Big Mama”, her son, and another person were arrested Thursday during a drug bust in Milford.

Nilsa Vega, 40, her son Santos Vega, 19, and Radames Vargas, 53, all of Milford were charged on various charges for possession and distributing heroin and a Class B drug according to the Milford Police Department.

Following an extensive investigation, police entered their home on Exchange Street with a search warrant at around 3:30 p.m. according to the Milford Daily News. Nilsa Vega and Vargas were seen leaving at the same time but were stopped by police.

After entering the house, police observed Santos Vega swallow a bag of what looked like heroin before being handcuffed. Vega denied swallowing anything.

Police also seized over $4,000 in cash and two vehicles.

The three were arraigned in Milford District Court Friday. Nilsa Vega and Vargas had their bail revoked since the arrest violated a condition of their release in a 2013 heroin trafficking case. Santos Vega was free on his own personal recognizance.
